School closure 18 December 2020
School closure 18 Dec 2020
Re: School closures 18th December 2020
Following the government announcement with regards to school closures for Christmas, we are writing to inform you that the last day of term for all schools in the Inspire Partnership, including West Thornton Primary School, will be Thursday 17th December 2020. On Friday 18th December, school will be closed.
This decision takes into account the DfE recommendation that schools provide “six clear days” to manage the additional workload relating to track and trace communication before Christmas Eve. We have also considered what other local schools are proposing to do, as well as the impact this may have on pupil and staff attendance if we remain open on the final day.
Pupil learning time missed through early closure will be made up by removing an INSET day later in the academic year. We will keep you informed about which day this will be.
Track and Trace from 18th December onwards;
We have a clear plan for how we manage our track and trace responsibility until 23rd December, including informing parents and staff about any confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the school community where necessary. If a pupil tests positive for Covid-19 in the days following the end of term, the school only needs to be contacted if that person develops symptoms less than 48 hours since being in school.
If symptoms developed more than 48 hours since being in school, parents and carers should follow contact tracing instructions provided by NHS Test and Trace. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all families in our community for their support during this difficult time. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
