Updates on extended provision

Letter from the Associate Headteachers.

Dear Parents and Carers,

What an extraordinary week it has been! It has been truly wonderful to be able to welcome our children back into school in such a positive way. They have been buzzing with excitement and so happy to be back at school. Staff across the school have worked extremely hard to create such a great atmosphere for the children to return to. A big thank you to parents and carers too - you have all been extremely supportive about your children’s return which has helped make this week a positive experience for all.

School has looked a little different this week but it hasn’t stopped us from having lots of fun! Using our whole school book, Rules of Summer by Shaun Tan, we have begun to explore the concept of rules and begun to settle back into the routines of school life. We have also enjoyed lots of outside learning including gardening and sport.

Thank you to all of our parents and carers for following our new arrangements for drop off and pick up this week.

Please ensure that you drop off and pick up your child at the allocated times. This will enable us to welcome the children into school safely while maintaining a safe distance from others. If your child has attended school this week and is unwell please call the school office and leave a message on the answer machine

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 6 and has not yet returned to school, but requires a place in the coming weeks please fill in the form:

Children returning will be given a start date (usually the following Monday) and a phone call will be made to you to confirm.

Please follow us on Twitter @WestThorntonSch and continue to access updates, home learning and information via our new school website:

This week has been a learning curve for all of us in school so we will continue to welcome feedback on how we are doing and will always listen and respond to any individual concerns and challenges. We have loved having more children back in school this week and hope that this is the beginning of re-adjusting and rebuilding school life in a positive and safe way.
